Unlike therapy, which often explores past experiences and treats mental health conditions, coaching is present and future-oriented. It's designed for people who are generally functioning well but want support in creating meaningful change, deepening self-awareness, or navigating transitions with greater clarity and intention.
How Coaching Differs from Therapy
While both coaching and therapy involve supportive conversation and personal growth, they serve different purposes:
Therapy typically focuses on healing, diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, processing trauma, and understanding how past experiences shape current struggles. It's clinical work designed to help people move from a place of distress to stability.
Coaching is educational and developmental. It assumes you're already functioning and focuses on helping you thrive—clarifying goals, building skills, overcoming obstacles, and creating sustainable practices that align with who you want to become. Coaching is not a substitute for therapy when clinical treatment is needed.
